Providing Collaborative Care
We collaborate with Jackson Health System’s pulmonologists, cardiac surgeons, and cardiologists to address other serious problems related to the lungs and heart.
Developed in the 1970s, ECMO has been shown to be an effective treatment in children and adults with respiratory and cardiopulmonary failure. Our multidisciplinary team performs over 60 of these procedures a year, making us one of the largest ECMO centers in the nation.
We are a member and active participant in the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO), a worldwide data registry that monitors quality standards for national and international ECMO centers. Our team’s rate of survival-to-hospital discharge exceeds the average reported from all centers in the ELSO registry.
Serving U.S. and International Patients
Our ECMO team has the ability to place patients on ECMO in other U.S. states or in other countries, and then transfer them to our institute for further medical management. Whether you or your child needs ECMO to recover or to stabilize the organs until a transplant can be performed, you can trust our specialists to deliver the best possible care.
