Adam’s dad decided to donate so that Bravo could manage Adam’s recovery and take care of his siblings. After a few delays, Adam’s surgery was scheduled for August 29, 2023.

Under the guidance of Dr. Chandar and the team, Emilio was listed for a kidney transplant. A generous stranger was a match—giving Emilio a kidney from a living donor.

She was diagnosed with Wilson Disease, a rare genetic condition that causes copper to build up in the body, particularly in the liver, and can develop into life-threatening organ failure.

Michelle Rushefsky’s father, Steven Rushefsky, 71, was her first best friend. The 38-year-old grew up as an only child and describes her dad as fun, protective, and larger than life.

“I went to work thinking it would go away,” Jose said. “By lunchtime, I told my boss I needed to leave. When I got home, the headache still wouldn’t stop. That’s when I finally said, ‘Let me go get checked.’”

Jackson’s heart had complete blockages in two major arteries, stopping blood flow and causing the heart attack.

He’s planning to return to teaching at FIU for the spring semester, playing his bass at gigs throughout Miami, and spending time with loved ones for every holiday to come.

“I mean this from the bottom of my heart,” mentioned Costigan. “From the moment we walked into the hospital to the moment I walked out, everyone was fantastic.”

“I really thought I would be more tired after the sessions,” she said. “But I was still able to have a lot of energy to do my mommy things and family stuff, so it wasn’t bad at all.”
